After successful drilling of Taiwan Chelungpu-fault, follow up studies on in-situ borehole observations and experiment as Fluid Injection Test (FIT) had been carried out for understanding healing process of the fault. This test brings the knowledge on the in-situ fault hydraulic properties and seismological aspects after a large earthquake. Similar repeating experiments of FIT on Nojima Fault had been carried out over the past 10 years after the 1995 Kobe earthquake. This session will bring the discussion on the understanding of earthquake fault healing and sealing processes through the preliminary results of Chelungpu FIT and comprehensive results of Nojima FIT. Other geophysical/geochemical observations and experiments related to the fault zone healing sealing processes are also welcome.
